I am overwhelmed.

Today Emma peed on the floor (for the second time in two days). She didn't just have a little leak. She PEED ALL OVER the kitchen floor. And the chair she was standing on. Yesterday it was the bathroom stool and the bathroom floor. I cried when she did it today. I just have so much house to clean and we're going camping tomorrow. Add that to my new (unannounced) calling and then she had to go and pee!! And the worst part is, our house is only messy because I'm lazy. I spent all weekend (after the wedding) being lazy. Then yesterday I was planning on cleaning but there was a bunch of stuff outside of the house I had to do (primary stuff, errands, etc). So when I got home I sat on my butt and read all afternoon. At least I made dinner, that's good right? Anyway, I didn't do anything so my house and laundry have been getting worse. Oh, and this morning there were 3 trails of ants leading into the trash can. UGH. I'm now on my second run of the same load of laundry because it stunk from being left in the washer. Anyone have any advice on motivatiing myself? I have great ideas of ways to clean and organize things...I'm just too lazy.

Ah, procrastination! I really like this Spanish proverb:
"Tomorrow is often the busiest day of the week."

Love it Shan....

I don't really have any advice for you Megan. Sorry. But after the 2nd spill of milk last night at the dinner table I sent my family outside to swim while I cleaned the floor. I couldn't stand it anymore!

I keep a clean house because it keeps me happy and my husband happy. I feel like I can relax when it's clean, but when it's messy, I feel like there's always something I should be doing (like cleaning!)

I keep up with the laundry and the dishes because I can't stand the smell of anything sitting out right now. I do have a pile of clean laundry sitting out right now, but I'm trying something new. Doing a load everyday....so that I don't get overwhelmed once a week. I wash it, fold it, put away. Done.

So - what is your new calling? Sounds like you are gonna be busy?

Maybe have your kids go play somewhere, or have Ian take them out to McD's tonight, so you can have some quiet time to clean and work. that is when I work the best, when I am alone and I have time to just clean. It's hard with kids leaving a trail behind you (esp when they are peeing!!).

You sound so overwhelmed. I wish I could drive over and relieve you! I almost came out this week, but realized you'd be camping and my mother-in-law is here instead (well, at Sarah's).

We clean up before bed every night. The dishes are done with a wash going that I unload the next morning while the kids eat breakfast. that's the only way I stay on top of the dishes. I put any laundry away and clean their rooms while they are in the bath. So generally, that system works for me. But you have to find what works with your schedule.

Now that I've written an essay - I'll stop! :) I just feel bad and wish I could come help you! Hang in there! And have fun camping!

Megan, this sounds familiar! The only tip I have to add is to start with one room and pick everything up till its all put away where it belongs, not just half way there and keep doing that till every room is picked up then you can vacuum because every room is clean. Just focus on one room (I actually divide the house, 2nd story, 1st) and give yourself a reward when you get to certain points. Good luck...

Would your please quit being so hard on yourself!!! Let's see....you're a mother of three, a nursing mother, and a wife. Your only sibling just got married and you shouldered a lot of responsiblity helping her have the wedding of her dreams. By the way, your girls looked as though they could have stepped out of Brides Magazine and I suppose you didn't fuss over them just a bit. The day must have flooded you with a range of emotions....joy for your sister, a shared anxiety that everything would go off as planned, and an overwhelming sense of grief that your parents weren't there (in body) to share the celebration. And then on Sunday, you get told that your husband has a new and busy calling, and oh by the way, you will be released from the calling you love and given one that you've always feared. I'm sorry, but LAZY isn't the word I'd use to describe you right now. My advice...just do what you have to to keep the Health Department from shutting down your home and taking away your children. This too shall pass.....

I am so in the same boat as you. No advice. But, a note about Emma, do you think she has a UTI? Weird question, I know, but if she's having accidents, two days in a row, maybe she is.

Anyways, good luck with the house cleaning. Have fun going camping!
Love ya!

I agree with Megan...I wish I could come and help you out! My Aunt Shannon instinct wants to just take your children away to a park for the day and leave you at home! I hope you guys have a nice relaxing trip camping!

By the way, I also want to take Porter, Katie, and Sam...and give you moms all a break!!!!

I wish I had good advice for you but it seems like I have been screaming at my kids and enduring a messy house for the past 2 days! AHHHG. Wes just spilled a whole bag of popcorn kernals all over my kitchen floor and he has been up since 6:30 and it is only 8:00 and I want to kill him.

Here is my only advice....tomorrow will be better and you need some alone time! See if you can slip away sometime soon. Also enjoy camping...that is always fun!

Lazy is not a word in your vocabulary! I've never seen a more capable, talented wife, mother, and friend with such grace and cheerfulness! I'm glad you took a small bit of time to rest for a moment before picking up and carrying on.

I know you are camping right now. But I had to share. Today when I went to get Katie out of her bed after nap she was completely naked. Her diaper was off, which was a poopy one and there was crap (literally) smeared all over her bed. Her room smelled so bad I wanted to throw up. It was disgusting. I guess it's time to potty train....she's very good at taking her diaper off. I'm just lazy!
