I LOVED General Conference!! Some of my favorite talks were Sis. Beck's "Mothers Who Know" and Elder Oaks "Good, Better, Best." Also Elder Uchtdorf's was great, and didn't you just want to cry watching sweet Elder Wirthlin? What a dedicated, sweet sweet man. I'm so glad he was able to finish his talk and so grateful for sweet Elder Nelson for standing there the whole time. Also, I'm so excited that President Eyring is the new second counselor. I just love him. It seemed to me that the conference was geared very much towards new members or non-members. It was wonderful though and I'm glad I was able to watch all 4 sessions. What did you think?

I loved Elder Oaks talk too. James was napping with the kids (giving me quiet time), so I was telling him about it last night. I wish I could have watched all 4 sessions. I'm hoping they replay it on the BYU channel. I think President Eyring is wonderful too. He's one of my favorite speakers! I still vividly remember one he gave 2 years ago on spiritual preparedenss.
I only watched 1 1/2 sessions, but I thought it was really good. To me, it was geared towards the normal person, and I loved how they talked a lot about putting family first (even above callings).
Shan - I liked that too. I was talking about it to James last night. I think it's easy to get absorbed in our callings and trying to please everyone and not saying "no" often enough that our families need can be overlooked.
Mom told me once that she called Delores Dickson to help her with something (maybe bringing a meal or something) and she said something along the lines of "I'm sorry, but if I did that, then that would mean I wouldn't be able to help XX child with XXX". I don't remember the situation, but what a great lesson from a wonderful woman!
I loved both talks you mentioned, esp Elder Oaks'. I also LLLOOOVVVEEDDD Elder Bednar's talk and Elder Packers talk on Sat. morning. The whole thing was great.
I thought is was geared toward everyone, but just shows you that everyone gets different stuff out of it. It does seem like in the last few years that they have concentrated on telling the world what we believe. I mean, I've heard more about the Nicean Creed in the last few conferences than I did in college history classes!
I loved how lots of the talks were just about doing better, being better, taking our devotion to the next level. Trying harder to do more. Anywho, loved it, can't wait for the text to be up on line. And I can't wait to READ Elder Wirthlin's talk, since I was so busy being worried that I forgot to listen!
Conference was simply wonderful and I am so glad it is easily accessible over the internet. This is the first time we've ever watched it at our house and it was so much easier to listen to the talks. The children seemed to listen better and we all felt the spirit. I wish every weekend was Conference weekend.
